Marion Township has the cemetery listed both as Lakeside because of the inscription over the gate at the cemetery but also known as the Lake Cemetery because the first use of the burying ground was for the Lake family who came to the area in 1838.

It is located in the northeast quarter of Section 5.

Included in the many old headstones are those for a Revolutionary War soldier and an early explorer of Shiawassee County. There are also a number of pioneer families buried here.

The DAR visited Livingston County in the 1940's and transcribed many of the cemeteries in the area. That three volume set was compiled into one index and I used this as the beginning of the new table format which includes both the interred names and the cemetery names which are linked to the individual cemetery pages.
