The Family History Center is located within the church on the south side of Grand River Avenue approximately
one mile west of the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Grand River. (Downtown Howell)
HOURS:
Tuesday & Thursday:
10 a.m. - 10 p.m.
Wednesday:
7 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Saturday: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
EQUIPMENT:
Due to the generosity of our patrons we have been able to purchase a wide array of
equipment of varying types above and beyond the usual standard pieces found at all FHC
that will allow anyone to begin their search.
- Microfiche Readers - We have 8 machines available for your use.
- Microfilm Readers - We have 7 and one of these will allow you to read both fiche
and film.
- Microfiche/Microfilm Copier - We are very fortunate to have this piece of
equipment so you do not have to copy that long entry in whatever type of records
you are reading.
- Computers - We have two that
are available to access the Family Search
program which includes the Ancestral File, International Genealogical Index (IGI),
Social Security Death Index (SSDI), Military Death Records of those servicemen
who died in defense of their county during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts,
Scottish Parochial Records, and the card catalog of the main library located in Salt
Lake City Utah, the churches headquarters. This computer will also allow you to
access the Personal Ancestral File (PAF) program and enter data regarding your
own family history, saving it to your own personal disk. We have even added a
storage box, so you can keep a gedcom copy of your records in a safe place
away from your home in case of emergency. The Temple-Ready program
allows anyone, even non-members of the LDS church the opportunity to submit their
family data for inclusion into the next update of the IGI and or Ancestral File.
