Located in the southwest quarter of Section 15 of Marion Township, this site was for the burying of the poor or the county who were boarded at the county poor homes.
In 1871 the Hiram WING farm was sold to the county for a site to house all of the county's indigent. During the period of time when the W.P.A. workers did labor, the stones were put in nice neat rows at the site, but unfortunately not over the exact graves. It is believed there was at least 65 interments, mostly of Scotch or Irish ancestry.
This was one of the cemeteries that the DAR came through in the 1940's and transcribed. Originally a three volume set of indexes, now compiled into one and I used this as a beginning for a new table format which also includes the name of each cemetery which is then linked to each cemetery page.
The site has not been kept up by the county.
