PLEASE READ "BEFORE".....
Using the Atlas For The First Time
First off please remember that ALL of the images included in any of my projects are covered by my copyright. While I am normally very willing to help schools, local historians etc. I cannot allow people to arbitrarily take the images I worked on for hours to those that want to use them in their own publications. Normally all I request is a donation to www.USGenNet.org .
To get to the state of your choice, just click on the name. When you get to that state's front page, pick whether you want to look at the state map, the index of town & city names or the look at the county maps.
REMEMBER, these are huge jpg files and may take a very long time even with the fastest modem for those of you who are still on dial up which from what I have been told is still in the 60% + across the world.and also need a system that has a healthy dose of available ram.
I have just finished the process of re-enhancing the county pieces so that awful red or green edge that they drew around them over 100 years ago is mostly gone so you can read the town names underneath. I hope that you will be able to read all of the town names easily without having to blow up the image 5 times <grin>
Keep in mind the county pieces are not in most cases going to be postcard pretty, rather cleaned up so that town name visibility is the key word. I spent virtually hundreds of hours on this part of the project if not thousands, so if you would prefer the ones with the colors in them, then download the state map and cut out the county that you are interested in. As stated elsewhere on the site, I try to be helpful but please do not arbitrarily take me copyrighted images for your own publication without asking first.
Please also keep in mind, that all I did was to TRANSFER data to this website.....in the majority of cases I know NOTHING about the various towns, who lived there, or any history. I do not have travel brochures, other maps of these areas, or any additional information, so your best bet is to send a query to the appropriate state list. IF you need to find a list to send queries to here is the BEST, bar none place to find all the lists out there <g> .... http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/internet.html
Now, I may be an expert on hugging, but that is a different matter. The best thing to do is to send a post to that state list which there are usually experts that may be able to help you. You just cannot believe what past visitors thought I knew from restoring houses to resident addresses.....and the best was the guy that sent me a copy of his traffic ticket from TX and wanted me to help him with it. <grin>
Looking for
other IMHO additional info sites which may assist you in various needs such as where to
subscribe to lists, where to buy genealogical posters to print in the data once you have
found it, etc. .... Click Here

I entered data
from the 1895 World Atlas into table format so those cities which someone cannot find in
the 1880 census or the 1900 census, may be found here. I have already helped a number of
people who post queries to the various lists with where were certain cities were at the
time? Some cities changed names about this time and this data will show the new names.
This table shows the city, state, population, area the county lies in the state, whether
or not they have a Post Office, R.R. station or an Express Office and if they are a county
seat. If a city is a county seat it will be in CAPS. I have tried to be as
accurate as possible, but I am human and the people the originally entered the
data were I think human also, so there may have been errors, we can only go on
with the best available.

THE REASON BEHIND THE PROJECT
![]()
Please keep in mind that when I .........
(Pam Rietsch ... pam@livgenmi.com ) conceived this project, over almost 12 years ago, it would never have been possible without the foresight of my friend who is a very dedicated quiet genealogist named Dianne Richards who has been doing research for many years. She was the one who found the atlas ready to be thrown away in someone's old basement and suggested that I put it on the website! I could type for years, and in the middle of the data entry, I thought I would, <grin> but without the original data, no project.
Another important person in the whole process is the founder of ISMI who hosted the LivGenMI site in the early years...without Charly & Tara Beth's help and cooperation there would be no such site, so you might want to send them thanks also at: charly2@chc2.com
Now we have the third and almost important partner in this project, that of www.USGenNet.org When my nephew sold ISMI there was no way for me to be able to come up with the funds to keep the sites on line and so I went to USGenNet.org and sought space with them. They were nice enough to allow me to move over all of my sites previously hosted at Charly's server. I request that if you are able or know anyone that is able to donate anything to keep the sites on line please go to the front page to see the challenge chart or click here: Help Support Page
