Indian Nations Index of Towns & Cities

Please note.....this table is slightly different than all of the others in that there is no population column, because there were never any people counted at this period who lived in these areas of what eventually became Oklahoma. Also instead of the County Column, there is a Nation column which refers to which Indian population legally owned the rights to that land at this period in history. Hope this explanation helps a little.

For some undetermined reason, I have found that there are tons of towns that were left out of the indexes for the 1895 atlas for Oklahoma & the Indian Nations....they do appear on the map, but not in the index, so I have added them into the alphabetical listing with an asterisk. Unfortunately there is not town data as to population etc....but I figured you might at least want to know about the town names. I also noted that in the towns they did place in the index that their sense of direction was just a bit off....perhaps their compass had not been adjusted?? <grin> Anyway, where I could find them I did correct them....I would be sure to check the Indian Nations Portion of this state for your town if you cannot find it as the boundaries are not clear at all so in many cases I had to guess....:((((
